Barn Trash is a new venture that we have started over the winter of 2010. After finishing our 1867 Farmhouse remodel, and filling it with wonderful antiques that we have collected over the years, we decided it was time for everyone else to enjoy some Barn Trash.
We dig through antique barns, old farmhouses, farm sales, estate auctions, and anywhere else we can find to salvage old relics of years gone by. Every item of Barn Trash has history engrained in it. We spend a lot of time sourcing pieces from all over our local region here in Macoupin County, Illinois, but also in some of our favorite travel spots as well. We take great pride in finding items that are special, eclectic, different, unique, and sometimes even very useful!
We rehab, rebuild, and repurpose all sorts of furniture and home goods to bring them back to use today. Whether it is lamps out of porch posts, mantles out of old feed bunks, or your common wooden door made into a blanket chest, all of it is repurposed. We strive to make even the smallest details as authentic as possible. To us, even the hinges, knobs, and keyhole covers need to be antiques.
All of our custom furniture is built in the old converted grainery on our farmstead. The items are all hand done, from the building, distressing, painting, and finishing.
Our architectural salvage furniture can come in custom sizes, colors, and styles. Since it is custom order, make it custom fit to your home. We enjoy making pieces work for people so that it benefits them best. We can match the colors that you like, make a piece fit in a nook or cranny, and have your style to go along with it.
Come see our work at any of our upcoming shows or set up an appointment to come to the shop, where you can pick out the architectural salvage and appliqués for your own custom piece!
Enjoy the Trash!
